Our Volunteering opportunities

We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities available from Car driving to website editing...

As a Driver in our Volunteer Car Scheme

The scheme is to take people to health appointments, shopping or to meet up with friends.

Volunteers drive their own cars and receive expenses of 45p per mile.

As a driver for our Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle

Passengers requiring transport in or with their wheelchairs can now use our Accessible vehicle, we currently have two six seater vehicles specially adapted to carry wheelchairs.

Training is given on transporting and securing the wheelchairs.

Minibus Driver for Community Group Hire

We hire out our minibuses (15 seater) to local community groups whose members include wheelchair users, we need volunteers to drive and join in the fun of their outings, often in the evenings and at weekends.

In the Office

We need volunteers to help in our offices so if you have skills or experience in reception, using computers, or enjoy talking to people on the phone or in person please give us a call.

We also need help with demonstrating and training our wheelchairs, scooters to shopmobility users and our workshop needs help to check and prepare the vehicles ready for use.


We always need help with fundraising, so if you would like to run an event or help at our events then please contact the office.

Volunteer Collection Tin Manager

We are also searching for a volunteer tin collection manager, who will ensure that our collection boxes are out and about in the local community.

The Role would involve, identifying local businesses willing to take collection tine, Approaching the managers of those businesses, to install and maintain collection tins and to provide those holding collection tins with feedback on the amounts collected by producing thank you letters and appreication certificates

Ideally the volunteer would have access to a car (we pay 45p per mile for expenses), enjoy meeting people, is happy to handle money , organised and can keep simple records. Full Training will be given.

Volunteering information

We are looking for people who are interested in joining our association by becoming a trustee or a friend of: this would involve attending 4 meetings a year, but mainly we are after people who want to help us make a difference, we have been around for 25 years and would like to be around to celebrate out 50th Anniversary.
