Save our Scheme

Sadly TDCTA are under threat of losing a large percentage of vital funding over the next three years due to the economic climate, we have been serving the community for 25 years and we aim to continue our vital services for another 25 (if not more).

To enable us to continue providing our vital services we will be hosting various funding activities throughout the year whilst continuing to apply for a variety of funding grants, however in light of the struggles that Community Transport organisations will also be having, the grant income market will be flooded with applicants, therefore we also need to seek other income generation.

A sponsorship program will begin this April, It will an opportunity for local businesses to get involved with our organisation and allow us to promote our vital services.

In order to help our sustainability our committee have decided to introduce a scheme membership, the scheme membership will be introduced in January and March 2016.

Current Ring & Ride & Shopmobility members will be able to upgrade their membership for £5 if they became a member after November 2015. All other users of TDCTA will need to become a member of the organisation. Every member will be given a unique number which will be entered into an annual draw.

Membership of the organisation will not only help TDCTA head towards a brighter future after all the funding cuts, but it will allow our members to take a more in-depth role in how they wish TDCTA to operate in the future, we will produce regular questionnaires and develop “friends of groups” whilst selecting ambassadors to help promote the schemes we offer and seek new ideas.

What can i do to help?

There are many ways in which you can help us.

Leaving a gift in your will

Tiverton & District Community Transport is a local charity that provides transport services for those in need including elderly, frail, disabled & rurally isolated people in the Mid Devon area.

The purpose of the services we provide is to prevent social isolation, increasing & retaining independence, enable mobility & peace of mind, help to combat the problems of loneliness, to enable such vulnerable people to access medical & other essential services, clubs & organisations providing support, & to use the local shops & other amenities in the area.

With the rising costs of running such an organisation & the greater difficulty in obtaining funding from charitable trusts & other such sources we are finding it increasingly difficult to raise the necessary funds to keep the services viable. Therefore we ask whether you are able to assist us in any way, Any gift, large or small, helps us to be able to continue to help people with transport needs, but a gift to TDCTA could also help reduce the inheritance tax on your estate.

If you have already made a Will, but would like to leave a gift to TDCTA, you can do so by making a simple addition to your existing will. This is called a codicil. (These forms are available from TDCTA or by clicking here (PDF document - 1.2Mb).) By adding this supplement to your will you can include new instructions and delete old ones without having to go through the task of revoking the whole will.

If you have not already made a Will, you may need to see a solicitor. Although you will have to pay a fee, you will receive sound professional advice and can be sure that your wishes are achieved. Two ways to give to TDCTA in your Will -Residuary gift - you can choose to leave a share, or the whole, of what is left in your estate once you have provided for your loved ones. - Pecuniary gift - you can choose to give a gift of a fixed amount of money
